Friday Poll: Social Networking Sites

I'm going to post a quick poll on a topic of interest each Friday (or maybe more often - I'm crazy like that). The topic today is social networking sites. To be clear, I do not mean social media sites like YouTube, del.icio.us, Digg, etc, whose main purpose is to find or share things on the web.  The sites I included in this poll all have a primary focus of letting people find and communicate with each other. (I went back and forth on including Twitter. While it is a communication platform, it just didn't seem to fit in with the others.)

In general I find my network, primarily marketing folks here in DC working in technology businesses, are all in LinkedIn.  I have only a handful of folks who are on Facebook (maybe 10).  And fewer on Twitter (3).

By the way, I would consider Twitter a networking tool - people use it to follow and connect to one another.  As well as get information.  Hmmm.  A little bit of both.

Yeah, LinkedIn (mostly business contacts) and Facebook (mostly personal contacts) are my biggest networks, but as far as activity and updates, Facebook wins hands down. I’ll say it: It’s just more fun.

Regarding Twitter: The “other” option allows you to write-in any others I may have left out or you feel are related. No “Mickey Mouse” write-ins, please. ;-)
