What to buy for the IT buyer

Whether you're looking to send out holiday thank you gifts to customers or trying to entice a potential IT buyer with a campaign give away, finding the right gift is key.  So what do you get for the IT buyer that has everything?  

I found some interesting answers in a recent survey from IT Toolbox. They surveyed over 4,400 IT buyers around the world and asked them a number of questions about desires, likes, and dislikes.  Here's what they found...

All I want for Christmas is a Blu-ray player (and movies to play on it).

  • For personal use, the hottest gift this year is the Blu-ray player, followed by a GPS for their car and noise-canceling headphones.
  • IT professionals are big movie buffs, so movies for their new Blu-ray player are a good choice.
  • They're big fans of the History Channel, so maybe a DVD box set from a recent series (for those not lucky enough to get the Blu-ray player).
  • After movies, listening to music is one of this groups most common leisure activities, so think iPod gift certificates.
  • They're twice as likely to read a book than play videos, so gift cards to Barnes and Noble might go over well too.
  • Oh, and don't bother with electronic readers, they think they're a waste of time.
